What is Ultimate?

Ultimate (often known "Ultimate Frisbee") is a non-contact team sport played with a flying disc. the main objective being to score points by catching the disc in the opposing team's end zone. Teams and Field: Ultimate is typically played with two teams of seven players on a rectangular field with two end zones.

• Teams and Field: Ultimate is typically played with two teams of seven players on a rectangular field with two end zones. Points are scored by completing a pass into the opposing team’s end zone.
• Movement: Players cannot run while holding the disc. They must establish a pivot foot and pass the disc to a teammate.
• Turnovers: If a pass is incomplete (dropped, intercepted, or goes out of bounds), possession immediately changes to the other team.
• Self-Officiating and Spirit of the Game: Ultimate places a strong emphasis on self-officiating and the Spirit of the Game (SOTG). Players are responsible for making their own foul and line calls and are expected to respect each other and communicate openly to resolve disputes. SOTG is central to the sport and places the responsibility on players to uphold a positive, fair and competitive environment.

We are dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for all players, fostering a culture of self-officiation, sportsmanship, and mutual respect both on and off the field.

Apart from Ultimate on the fields and on turf, Beach Ultimate takes place on land, and at the heart of Sentosa in Singapore. 

‍The difference in terrain:
‍Compared to astro turf and grass, sand can often slow down players’ running speeds and reduce their ability to make quick cuts. Held at sandy areas along waterfronts, players are also subject to weather conditions such as sand in the wind,and the hotter weather coming both from the sun above and the sand below. However, it also gives way to spectacular diving catches ("layouts") that add to the excitement of the game.

Beach Ultimate follows similar rules to traditional ultimate but is adapted to the unique conditions of the beach: 

• Smaller Teams and Field: Beach Ultimate is typically played with five players on each team (instead of seven) to suit the smaller playing area measuring 75 meters long with 15-meter deep end zones.
• Shorter Games and Halves: Games are typically shorter due to the increased physical demands of playing on sand. WFDF beach Ultimate games often go up to 13 points, with a halftime at 7 points.
